Course Description
This course provides a solid foundation for all fields of computer graphics. Students at Merrimack College will be interested in both the fine and applied arts application of raster imagery. Photo retouching, montaging, enhancing, pre-press preparation and photo-manipulation in general is now done with the computer. Students will learn and apply these techniques in projects relevant to marketing, advertising, illustration and cyber media. Assignments will also provide the opportunity for exploration of expression and aesthetics.
Grade Criteria
- Quality of craft.
- Concept
- Attention to deadlines. (Late assignments are penalized one letter grade.)
- Attendance (5 or more absences results in automatic failure of the course.3 or more absences results in lowering final grade by one letter grade. Being late or leaving early is counted as ½ an absence.)
Supplies
- Students should obtain:
- at least 1 Gigabyte of flash memory for storage
- a few CD-ROMs
- CD labels
- a digital camera capable of at least 5 megapixel photographs
- Card Reader or cable.
- Epson Enhanced or Premium Matte paper
- an artist's portfolio (DM Majors only)
- a white t-cotton shirt
