Posterization, Text Warp
Concepts: Posterization, compression, file formats such a s gif, jpg, tif, and psd, dither, indexed color, text warp.
Assignment
Apply a quote with meaning for you to a posterized photograph. Apply this photo to a t-shirt. Place a print out of the design in your portfolio. Photograph a person modeling your t-shirt. Place that 8x10 photo in your portfolio as well.
For the graphic:
- Posterize the photo as described above.
- Do not use a rectangular format for your graphic. Elements should "float" on the fabric.
- Be sure the background of the image is white. Make use of an expressive typeface.
- Integrate the typeface with the imagery.
- Warp at least some of the type.
- Trim excess of print-out
- Apply design to a t-shirt.
- Print design on good paper and put it in your portfolio.
For the modeled photograph pay attention to:
- Pose
- Facial Expression
- Grooming
- Environment
- Lighting
- Make the photo be as expressive as possible
Grade will be based on:
- Expressiveness of typography
- Dynamic impact of graphic
